£1,000 First Time Build For Gaming

Thanks to everyone who replied! After doing as much research as I could, I've decided on this build. I'm open to any suggestions on how I can improve it. I've went over budget by around £130-£140 but if it's worth it, then I'm happy.

Type|Item|Price

:----|:----|:----

**CPU** | [AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor](https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/9nm323/amd-ryzen-5-3600-36-thz-6-core-processor-100-100000031box) | £147.90 @ Amazon UK

I chose this CPU as I couldn't justify the price difference for a 3600X or the Ryzen 7 3700X. From what I saw in different benchmark comparisons, the Ryzen 5 3600 should do the job fine.

**CPU Cooler** | [Cooler Master Hyper 212 RGB Black Edition 57.3 CFM CPU Cooler](https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/hHDJ7P/cooler-master-hyper-212-rgb-black-edition-573-cfm-cpu-cooler-rr-212s-20pc-r1) | £40.50 @ AWD-IT

From what I briefly read, the supplied CPU cooler is poor in comparison to this one.

**Motherboard** | [Asus TUF GAMING X570-PLUS (WI-FI) ATX AM4 Motherboard](https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/dmGnTW/asus-tuf-gaming-x570-plus-wi-fi-atx-am4-motherboard-tuf-gaming-x570-plus-wi-fi) | £199.95 @ AWD-IT

I liked the recommendation for the MSI B450 Pro Carbon AC. Especially with the ability to flash the BIOS from a USB. But the also recommended Asus TUF Gaming X570-Plus is newer and has a lot of bells and whistles.

**Storage** | [ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive](https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/zR3H99/adata-sx8200-1-tb-m2-2280-solid-state-drive-asx8200pnp-1tt-c) | £129.99 @ Amazon UK

(I realise my knowledge was a bit outdated with SSD storage. I used to see M.2 as newer fancy, expensive stuff that was overkill for my needs. Thanks for all that recommended it over a SATA SSD, as you've made me realise how the prices on M.2 NVME are now much better than before.)

This one seemed to have the better reviews and performance.

**Storage** | [Seagate Barracuda Compute 2 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive](https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/BcQG3C/seagate-barracuda-compute-2-tb-35-7200rpm-internal-hard-drive-st2000dmz08dm008) | £58.33 @ Amazon UK

The most recommended one on this page. Price seems reasonable. I have no reason to disagree with this.

This one seemed to have the better reviews and performance.

**Video Card** | [Gigabyte Radeon RX 5700 XT 8 GB GAMING OC Video Card](https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/6kdrxr/gigabyte-radeon-rx-5700-xt-8-gb-gaming-oc-video-card-gv-r57xtgaming-oc-8gd) | £379.98 @ Amazon UK

After lots of reading and watching videos on benchmarks and reviews, I decided this graphics card is best for graphics & thermal performance and for noise. As was recommended, this would be better for Linux use than an Nvidia card.

**Case** | [Phanteks Eclipse P400A ATX Mid Tower Case](https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/3RJmP6/phanteks-eclipse-p400a-atx-mid-tower-case-ph-ec400atg_bk) | £57.67 @ Ebuyer

Some of the cases recommended looked too small for my liking. Reviews looked good on this one and the mesh front panel impresses me. Hopefully it will help significantly with cooling.

**Power Supply** | [Corsair RMx 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply](https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/Rp8H99/corsair-power-supply-cp9020091na) | £96.99 @ Currys PC World

The Gigabyte website recommends a 60W PSU for the graphics card. I've followed Jayztwocents' advice and went slightly higher.

**Case Fan** | [Fractal Design Prisma AL-12 50.63 CFM 120 mm Fan](https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/mwTPxr/fractal-design-al-12-5063-cfm-120mm-fan-fd-fan-pri-al12) | £19.95 @ Amazon UK

One of the reviews recommended a fan for the back of the case. I see from a recommendation on this page that these fans come in a 3-pack for a good price but I can't see where I could fit the other 2. So to say £40 I've opted for just the one fan.
