.1. how do you guys think does the BJP handle foreign relations(their own analysis and compared to the congress) .2. how long can india/BJP carry on this balancing between the US and Russia while extracting what it seems beneficial for itself(like the s-400, any future consequences of this?)

India will eventually ditch russia for an alliance with the US. With all the sanctions on tussia and europe moving away from russian energy its only a matter of time before they become econmically dependent on China. Therr are already plans to build a gas pipelien between russia and china starting in 2024. I thinks its clear where this is going. Its really not in India's interest to keep being allies with russia. This is not to say we will be enemies but we will just see each other as old friends with new relations. As of now I dont see either of them creating a rift in their relations with us but we will probably see a slowdecline in our relations with Russia.

India's geopolitical importance as of now rests in its ability to counter China. And its better for both parties to partner up against china and this is being advanced through things like QUAD. ofc this doesnt mean we should trust the US completely. The moment they get the chance they will let India and China fight it out and watch from the sidelines.

And if the US wanted a different partner to counter China they dont really have a choice. Russia is china's ally, vietnam wouldnt side the the US,mongolia is neutral and dependent on china, pakistan is their ally and everyone else is too weak or neutral.

In the upcoming decades if things go well we are projected to be one of the largest economies in the world. This would mean that we wont really need the US once we are strong enough and we can simply go back to non alignement. And considering their history with japan the US would see us as a rival in the economic sphere at that point.

The real deciding factor would be the invasion of Taiwan. It will be the most important battle of this century and every nations foreign policy will change depending on who wins that.
