10,000 lose access in Kentucky to food assistance program

It sucks to say but I can promise you right now at least in the location I used to work EBT was abused like no tomorrow. Maybe 1/10 used it for actual things to make. Most would come in, buy tons of candy, sodas, and other various junk foods then drive away in a 2018 Escalade or Prius. I can understand wanting a snack or getting something you haven’t had in forever. These people would come in nearly daily and buy at least $10-15 of junk food and nothing else.

I definitely understand why it exists and people do need it. However I think it needs to be more like WIC and keep track of what you buy and have monthly allowances on certain types of items. Buying essentials to cooking or other healthy stuff? A OK. Buying $20 of steak or lobster every 2 days? Nope, that needs to go or at least have a limit on it. I also believe people need to be IDd to at least have matching last names or beneficiaries on it because people sell their cards for drugs and alcohol too quite often. So many times I’ve seen different names on the card but I’m not allowed to say anything.
