10 hour wait time? How does the government think this is acceptable?

I am going to cut up this post in pieces , and tell you that I have twenty years on you as an MLT.

Pretty sure we have the same managers too <TW / DM > so maybe confir with them on what I said. Ask Adam or Trish at CMLTM as well if you need more sources.

Go ask the MLA’s that work in your lab if they were trained on EKGs and I bet they were , if they graduated in the last 5 ish years. This is not a protected/ regulated task by any profession in the allied health sector just like phlebotomy is not lab exclusive. Cross training across this province is a thing . So are initial and annual TACAs.

Futher to this ,EKG’s are easy to run, its the doctors that intepret them, and Dynacare has had MLA’s doing them in Manitoba for private home visits for years , including doing them for the Bombers and Jets .

Patient care is not being compromised by this , but glad you are concerned about it . Do you really think the only task a cardiology tech does is EKGs? You think they are sad to hand over this task? Hell no. Maybe try knowing people in other departments in your hospital.

Labs are short on finding MLT’s but not MLA’s. not by a long shot. Even a casual position gets over 50 applicants .

Go read your in-telex and finish your media lab assignments before you respond to me.
