10 years age difference

I dated a girl at the exact same age as you who was the exact same age as him. Let me tell you what I wish someone would've told me before I dated her and you can make a decision for yourself.

Firstly, I'm not going to sit here and say that it won't work. It most certainly can under the right circumstances. My relationship completely and totally bombed but the reason wasn't solely based on age. She was just.... to put it mildly, crazy. But I digress.

The biggest problem with dating far above your age is life compatibility. My ex had a child and an abusive ex who couldn't get out of her life completely due to the child, which caused a lot of tension. If he doesn't have kids then at least that's not an issue. But other than just kids, someone 10 years older than you could be in a very different place when it comes to life goals. You're still young, if you want to experience more of what life has to offer but he wants to settle and buy a house (if he hasn't already) and have kids that may become a major issue for you. You also have to consider maturity. You may be too immature for him despite you thinking you are mature, or he may be immature himself. You have to truly take into account why a 30 year old man is getting with someone 10 years his junior. Is he sincere in wanting something serious or is he just excited to be getting involved with a young woman? Just some things to consider.

I can't really give more advice until I know more about him, but if you take anything away from this it would be to tread very, very carefully. This has so many ways of turning volatile very quickly, but as I said it could also flourish into something very positive.
