At 10 years old, this is where my interest began...What was it for you?

Summer, 1977. I was 8 years old and our family was visiting our cousins in Ohio. My older cousin, Justin, 16 or so, had a small motorcycle (no idea the make) and we all took turns riding around the neighborhood on the back. Justin was THE coolest guy. Just totally chill. Looked like Greg Brady with a 'fro. Everyone wanted to be around him. I remember we were all getting ready to go somewhere, and one of his very young sisters, Julie, 6, said all panicky, "Where are you going, Justin??" and without even stopping brushing his teeth he says, "Nowhere without you, Julie," and she smiled so huge. The years go by and I end up with my first bike, a Suzuki VX800. Justin, at this point, was living a bit of a nomad existence, buying and selling motorcycles and doing carpentry. I'd call him and say, "Let's ride bikes across the country together!" And while it was more of a pipe dream to me and just fun to talk about, he'd just say, "Hey man, say when." Dude was the coolest. So, yeah, of course, he died about ten years ago when a truck turned left into his oncoming lane. I don't think there's been a single ride, and I ride daily, where I don't think about him.
