100 years ago today, American Expeditionary Forces begin to arrive in France [1200x1200]

You seem to be conveniently forgetting about the Hundred Days Offensive which brought an end to the war. The Battle of Amiens and The Second Battle of the Somme that sent the Germans reeling without American contribution.

You seem to also conveniently forget that Germany was just as desperate to come to peace terms with Russia as they were, because Germany had pretty much run out of soldiers and their eastern armies were more than a little bit reluctant to now have to go fight on the western front, and things were falling apart at home.

Look, I know it's the American thing to think that you save the world at every opportunity and we should all be grateful that you even deign to come to the aid of your lesser mortal allies, but the facts are that by the time America had entered the war, Germany was done, they didn't have manpower to fight and cross into France and the will had collapsed to even think about sending soldiers across the channel and into Great Britain.

History certainly doesn't support this bullshit statement:

American aid and eventually troops were the deciding factor in the late days of the war

Look, put it this way, and go back to my whole point, say you work at a stable, and you have to muck out ten horse pens, but a French guy comes along and helps you muck out half of them in return you help him later. You agree and even become friends because of it, but a year later, he asks you to help him clear out five horse pens, but you only turn up when he's almost done and then claim that's your debt repaid, but not only that, it's because of you it even happened anyway.

Would you really say you helped or even contributed? In the American side of the argument, you did, but to the French guy, thanks but you are being extremely disingenuous for claiming you've fulfilled a promise.
