$1000.00 USD to install 1 outlet in the attic that connects directly to the breaker?

Honestly, you likely do not need a dedicated outlet for a home lab (depending on what all else is on the circuit, of course). It is also likely you will want to reduce power consumption down the line.

My lab (also in IT) was running about 500 watts with a couple of 2U servers, switch, etc. I eventually downsized it and purchased more power efficient equipment since 500 watts 24/7 was like $60/month in power. My gear now runs at about $150 and I am saving several $100/year.

The first thing I would check is: Does your closet have a light? If so, you might be able tap into that box, or just get one of these (be sure it is properly grounded): https://www.amazon.com/Grounding-Adapter-Convert-Polarized-Install%EF%BC%8CWhite/dp/B08DCNCY2Z/

You may decide later on you want to move your lab somewhere else. I have mine in an unfished section of the basement to reduce noise from entering my living space.
