[12/04/2017] Monday's Off Topic Free Talk Thread

I cheaped out and wrote it about abortions. It was just too easy.

BUT....but.... we did the 'peer review discussion group' thing and two of the three other people in my group just wrote about their issue. Like, they defined it and talked about it historically, but didn't have any arguments for or against.

The first person had a legit paper, it needed some work (not much), but that's the point. I went second, and everyone just stared at me for a few seconds and said it was pretty good, maybe change my sentences. Next person just described the issue, and I asked what her arguments were, and she said she misunderstood the assignment. Same with the last person.

TO BE FAIR they both thought they just had to write about an issue that they had a problem with, so one of them wrote about honor killings (in the muslim world) and the other wrote about epi pens being expensive. I had to help them argue for both of those things, it was weird.

There were a lot of, "I would never do this, and I don't believe in any of this, buuuuut you could say thiiiis to justify it." Lots of qualifications were necessary.
