1338. Great post from q/ research re SpX

I shouldn't say they're mine, because I don't have a firearms licence (not eligible), but my wife does - funny how that happened! :)

We are not allowed semi autos. I had an AR when I was younger, 35 years ago. The bloody thing would constantly jam up, I never did figure out why (one of those Vietnam-era Colts) and I ended up selling it. Anyway, back in those days, you could buy whatever you wanted. Hand guns were always on a separate license though so I've never owned one.

When I started worrying about the Zombie apocalypse, I bought a Tikka Super Varmint in 223 on the back of a video review that a guy did here in Australia. My wife gets good groups with it, best has been about 1/3 inch (clover leaf) - 3 rounds.

Anyway, after seeing how it was so good out of the box, I bought another Tikka CTR in 260 Remington - same story re the accuracy. Then I thought I'd better get something light if we ever have to hike out of Sydney in a no-rule-of-law situation. Another Tikka Superlight in 308 - can't remember what kind of groups this gets - the wife doesn't like it, it kicks too hard for her, even with a muzzle brake.

After that, I thought well we need something for a combat situation (when I think about it, I can't believe my wife went along with this, but she did). Can't have semiautos, so I got a Remington 7615 pump action in 223. Can only have 10 round mags here - crazy gun laws, but it's better than nothing. Accuracy is nothing like the Tikkas, it only has a 16.5 barrel.

I'm not allowed to touch these things. But, in an emergency... Anyway, I've just got separated, but have convinced my wife to jump through the hoops required to get a handgun license. I'm not likely to be around and I want her to be able to defend herself. 6 month minimum wait on that - you could not make it up!

Anyway, in my experience these Tikkas are great. I happened to get them all (T3s) on run-out when they were switching from T3 to T3X. So it didn't cost as much as it should have. You ask my wife and she'll tell you that they cost a fortune - and, we only ever needed one etc...

Just one of the bad aspects to living here. The other bad aspect to it is the Nazi policing of the speed limits and the traffic cameras. Oh, and the license you need if you want to go fishing. The controls on everything are getting tighter and tighter. Suffocating!

It was not this way when I was a kid.
