1500pt Tyranid List, Highlander Tournament. C&C Please. First Highlander tournament.

But that's not true. With all the dataslates, formations and allying available to Tyranids I hardly see them as non-versatile. We only limit ourselves by believing we have to limit ourselves. Who determines what is effective and what is not? Obviously some units are better at killing things then others but is that 100% of the "effective" factor? I don't disagree with you, the Tyranid codex is lacking but it's hardly the pigeon holed army that everyone argues.

I have to agree with you on Deathleaper. Not having Independent Character is incredibly unfortunate. Being able to actually field him with a unit would be great.

No need to apologize. I posted the list so that I may have these types of conversations. As far as something stronger for Genestealers what would you recommend? As a Highlander list all units are unique and troop choices only lose their unique quality after having used every troop option. I suppose you'll say warriors? Where as I can still field the five man brood with brood lord (keeping the unit small so as to be able to hide them out of LOS easily). Infiltrate them either right in the enemies nose and make him deal with that right away or onto an objective for an easy VP. I also like to use them as bait or keep em hidden until I tar pit an elite unit with the Buffgaunts then bring in the Stealers to finish the job.

What is the pt cost to victory point ratio? Can't units "make their points back" by capturing objectives, forcing enemies to make critical choices, flanking, pressuring, baiting? Or does it simply rely on Unit: A cost XXX but only killed XXX in points?

I hate to beat a dead horse but look at LVO Championship list. If we can take ANYTHING from this year's LVO I hope it's that there are no more "non viable, un-effective, weak" units. There are units and there are ways to use them.

Looking at the big picture of my list: what is lacking? Do I have enough obj sec units? Anti infantry? Anti Armor? Anti Air? Pychic phase? Warlord? Table control? These all seem far more important than "Unit Y isn't as good as killing as unit W". I do wan't the list to be competitive and I think these are the things that make it that way or not.
