16 years ago today, this was released

It's one of those situations where I don't think it can be topped simply because of when it was released. That period in the early 2000's is grime, and everything after that has just seemed like trying to imitate that era.

And grime is not like most other genres, you can't recreate that era because it was about more than music. It was about sets, fighting for the mic, violence, no networking via social media, dvds, location specific sounds (East vs North, East vs South ), radio. It was so much more real and genuine. Can you imagine a guy pointing a strap at someone and threatening to kill him live on radio nowadays? Or a studio getting rushed and taken over live on air? When your genre starts out like that, nothing new can compare.
