17 and my life has taken a turn for the worst

You're lucky you didn't lose all or partial use of your hand because sliced tendons can be very bad.

Athletes get injured all the time and miss months and months of training and still get back in the game. You'll heal, you'll recover. It's no big deal. You just get back into it once you're cleared by the doctor. I've been injured more times than I can count and I'm still in the game. Typically, you just have to focus on other areas. You can't use your hands, but you can still use your legs, so look forward to lots of legs days, running, biking, and dieting. Shit. I dislocated my right shoulder playing (American) football and it took like 6 months to heal. Then not long after that, I dislocated my left shoulder crashing on my mountain bike. It took over a year to heal and I'm still not back to where I was, but I'm getting there.

I don't know how ugly your scar is, but scars are cool. When I was a teenager, I got stabbed in the face and I have a visible, yet small, scar from that on my face. Nobody cares.
