17 #QuestionsForMen that call attention to casual sexism

Question to the female writers/speakers etc out there. Is it common for you to be called a 'showoff'? Or do just men get that?

When you tell people about something distressing to you, do people assume you're weak or homosexual?

How many times have you been told that all the pressure is on you to provide for your family so your spouse can be a stay at home mom even though you'd like to be the one spending time with the kids?

When you die, do you expect your obituary to start with references to how successful (hopefully) you were in your career?

Have your intentions ever been questioned or infantilized or misconstrued simply because of your gender?

Are you adept at casually mentioning in job interviews you have no plans to request 12 weeks of time off anytime soon after starting?

Do you worry that if you post in this subreddit men will troll you with smart arse and pointless answers?

Have you ever changed your outfit before going out because you're afraid girls will be overly critical of how you look and not talk to you unless you are the epitome of handsomeness and cool?

Have you ever had a coworker refer to you as hon?

When abused in any way, is your first instinct to be afraid that you will be the one blamed rather than the woman who abused you?

Have you ever stayed in a relationship longer than you wanted to with a woman because you were afraid she'd claim abuse/rape out of spite, and your career/life would be ruined due to hearsay even if she couldn't prove it in a court of law?

You're at home full time with the kids AND a dad - what's your secret to getting your wife to support you?

I could go on.

My point is that it easy to make snarky little questions like this about either gender. The fact that it is easy to make snarky little questions like this doesn't mean that the entire world feels or acts this way, or even a majority of it.

But, hey, it certainly feels good to some people to attack an entire gender, now doesn't it?
