[18 f] my older sisters have had so many bad experiences with BC pills (bad side effects) that I am scared to go on them and actually turned off by the prospect of having sex. What do I do ?

I have the paraguard (coppper IUD)! Best decision I ever made. My doctor pushed me to take the pill first (first time taking BC) and I obliged because I was a scaredy cat, even though I knew I wanted the non-hormonal route. If I could go back in time, I would've demanded the paraguard at our first appointment and skipped the pill entirely. All women are different, but I do not like fucking with my hormones like that. It was NOT a great time and I was a psychopath the whole time. Every woman I've met has had issues with the pill, although I know everyone is different, so maybe it does work for some. Idk though.

Anyways, I read a bunch of horror stories online about the paraguard and my doctor tried scaring me with the whole "u could totally bleed like soooo much on ur period"... yea ok. Barely. My periods are 2-4 days long and the first day is heavy (I guess- it ain't that bad, just the heaviest day). It's super chill.

I'd say push for the non-hormonal. Give it a shot and see if it works for you.
