I was the #2 Sr. Recruiter in the US for a top global IT staffing company until I left to be a stay-at-home mom in August. Ask me anything!

u/djneubs ,

Ok wait, I did a ton of math and remembered some stuff. For an hourly pay, wed aim for a 1.75X markup. As long as we were taking a profit, it was ok but we were kind of in trouble of it fell below like $7/hr in profit. So say the person was making $20/hr, so we were billing the company $35/hr. Id be given credit for getting the company $4.5/hr in profit since, as mentioned, 70% of that went to company fees and the other 50% of the remaining was attributed to the account managers profit contribution. Then, I’d receive up to 30% of that as commission, which is taxed 30%. So at max, I’d receive $0.94/hr in commission off of someone making $20/hr.
