2 year old snuck out of house.

When my oldest was about three she busted free.

She climbed a baby gate at the top of the stairs , went down a full flight , unlocked the deadbolt and handle and ran out the door after me. ( dad was home. I used to ride my bike at night after putting everyone to bed. )

I ended up getting contact alarms for the door so we could hear if she ever broke out again since we had child proofed as much as we could in an apartment to keep her in.

They’re really great. One piece gets stuck on the door and one on the frame and when the contact is broken a REALLY loud alarm sounds.

I’m pretty sure you’ll be fine with child services. If your home is clean and there’s food, they’ll generally come out and then tell you to be more careful.

I’m sure you’re beating yourself up over it , but it really was an accident that thankfully had a happy ending and you will all learn from it how slippery kiddos can be.
