20-week heartbreak

Ugh I'm so so sorry. I had something similar happen, they told me my little babe was in dire straights. The geneticist told me to have an abortion because he would die. I would hold out hope until you go see a specialist, I met with a neonatal team the next week and they got me set up for fetal surgery, mapped out his NICU stay, and his future surgeries. It was not easy and we don't know if he'll have mental delays or how serious, but for now he's perfect and healthy and after 60 days in the NICU he's in the homestretch to be discharged soon. I think a lot of times when general OB's don't know, they'll tell you it's a lot worse than it is to cover their behinds from malpractice, but fetal medicine is so amazing these days and has come such a long way.
