Of course it's scummy and unethical, but not everything that should be a crime actually is one. I agree that is should be a crime. Honestly, I think age of consent laws and marriage laws should be reformed, as there is honestly no justification for the legality of child marriage in the US, and age of consent laws are sketchy in some states. I wasn't trying to minimize how gross his behavior is. He's a predator regardless of the law in his area. I just think that it's important to be aware of what is or isn't technically illegal. Not being illegal doesn't make a behavior better; it just makes it clear that new or changed legislation is needed, and that doesn't happen if people don't know.
