20 year old younger sister is doing a month of Medifast, never dieted before. She is 5'8" and about 200 lbs. How much damage would one month of 1000 calories a day do to her metabolism?

Wtf??

The average woman needs 2000 calories a day and obviously that depends on your weight and height.

Tell her to check out IIFYM.com and use the calculator.

Please tell her to stop, this can lead to an eating disorder like it did with me. I thought it was a genius idea to eat 1000 calories and now I'm just obsessed with what I eat to the point where it's so unhealthy for me. I purge when I eat over the amount and it's damaging to me but I can't stop no matter how much I try. My hair begin to fall off, I can have a heart attack anytime, I am weak but I am on my journey to recovery.

Yeah, she may lose weight with this but once she starts eating normal again, even though she will eat healthy and smaller portion than what she used to at 200lbs, she will easily gain weight.
