Now that's interesting. I've spent a few minutes reading it, and I've come to the conclusion that Sommers may quite literally be a moron who is pandering to lazy parents. After all, school was much, much, much harsher decades ago and boys thrived in those environments.

We're blaming teachers and ascribing some sort of nefarious agenda to them when in almost every case where a kid doesn't do well, you can point directly to the parents. I've watched how other peoples' kids do in school alongside my own children, and the kids that do well have parents that are actively involved in their lives. The kids that don't do well are practically abandoned by their parents and virtually raised by their game systems (these days at least) and it's hard to maintain a straight expression when the parents rant about how the teachers are complaining about their kid's unruly behaviours.

It's easy to point fingers blame teachers or some nefarious conspiracy for our kids' difficulties. It's much harder to admit that we, as parents, are not doing something right.
