ITS 2015: WHAT'S NEW? The new season of the Infinity Tournament System -the Organized Game system of Infinity- begins at last. Infinity changed at the same time that the game itself and its players developed. Although Infinity has always been a cinematic and narrative game of miniatures, we at Corvus Belli soon realized that players also wanted a competitive environment with an official endorsement. That is how in 2009 the first season of the ITS, along with its international ranking, began. During these past six years, the ITS has kept growing both in participants and in options, only to become an environment where competition is synonym to fun and camaraderie. The 2015 season is set to be even better than previous editions! Would you like to know why? Then just keep on reading.

N3: the new edition of Infinity This new iteration of the Infinity rules is better than ever, especially for the competitive environment. The new Label system, along with the new ruleset design, will strengthen the system, making it easier to solve any issues during the games. The new mechanics of the game, for example the Command Tokens, will drastically change the decision-making process that in the past was less interesting. The Strategic Use of the Command Tokens adds appeal to having the second Player Turn, while the Tactical Use makes it possible to create lists with the foresight of knowing that some troops may switch Combat Groups as the game moves forward. In conclusion, during this season there will be a new game environment which the more experienced players will be able to explore, and where the new players will have a unique opportunity to learn about all the intricacies of this new edition at the same time that the veterans do.

New Missions In regards to this new season, the missions published in former campaigns have been retouched in order to not only adapt them to the new edition of Infinity, but also to accommodate the changes suggested by the players and the organizers themselves through our on-line community. New missions have also been added. Some of them are adapted versions of the ones now included in the N3 basic book, and others are completely new missions that take advantage of the scenario rules presented in this new edition. With close to a score of different missions from which to choose, organizers will have it easier than ever to add some diversity to the tournaments played in regular gaming communities.

New unified tournament formats: Extras Last season, organizers had six different tournament formats at their disposal, plus three possible levels or Tiers. One of the novelties of this season is that all tournament formats have been unified in such a way that they could even be combined, therefore exponentially increasing the range of tournament formats and also allowing more leeway to the organizers. When the time comes to announce the tournament, the organizer will only have to decide which Extras will be implemented and also the Tier of the tournament. The available extras are: Hobby: this new format has been created to reward those who decide to present their miniatures painted, without it affecting the tournament results. Campaign: this format uses the Campaign Rules of the Infinity book. Campaign: Paradiso. Joint Operations: a format to organize doubles tournaments. Showdowns: this format will permit quick single-round games. Spec-Ops: this format will allow players to have a Spec-Ops with 12 XP in their lists. This way the organizer could, for example, combine the Hobby, the Showdowns and the Joint Operations extras, thus celebrating a single-round doubles tournament where having the best-painted miniatures would be rewarded.

Classified Deck and HVT The Classified Objectives have been one of the most celebrated novelties from past seasons, and this year they will be improved even more. One of the inconveniences of using charts was the probability of getting a repeat result when rolling the dice, therefore forcing the players to chose an objective that it might be impossible for them to achieve. This season, the Classified Objectives will no longer be chosen by rolling on the charts used in previous years. From now on, players will use the Classified Deck, a deck of cards that will allow players to chose their Classified Objectives and later on serve as a reminder and proof of their election. Another novelty will be the inclusion of the HVT. These will be objectives that will have as the main target a special miniature deployed by the opponent. This will allow for a greater diversity within the Classified Objectives, and will also give a purpose to those miniatures that, up till now, didn't have an excuse to be on the tabletop. Figures like the Mission Pack Civilians, Go-Go Marlene or the O-12 High Commissioner. In addition, players will always have the choice of replacing one of their Classified Objectives during the game with Secure HVT, a special Classified Objective that does not require the use of Specialist Troops.

ITS One-Shots This new scoring system for the ranking, introduced during last season, is similar to the ELO rating system used in chess and the League of Legends video game. The skills of the player gain more relevance than the number of tournaments played. This makes it possible for us to offer the players the ITS One-Shots: codes that will let players add the scores of random games to their ITS ranking. In appreciation for the success achieved during the last season ITS, and so players can start enjoying this new season as soon as possible, all users registered in the ITS before February 2nd will get in their e-mails a code to report an ITS One-Shot completely free of charge. Don't forget to update your e-mail address to ensure the reception of your code!
