Rant time: I don't understand why some people feel like they should police your way of eating. I know this is a common complaint here, and for dieters in general, but it just irks me.

I hung out with a friend yesterday and did so great - she moved to a new place so we had a mini barbecue and I told her I wasn't eating breads/carbs. My eating habits should not be unfamiliar to her but I guess we don't hang out enough for her to really see how I eat on a regular basis. Anyway, I had a bunless burger and a salad.

After dinner, she asked me if I wanted to explore her city a little. She told me she wanted something sweet -- a brownie and a cookie from a bakery nearby. I told her I would explore but would probably not get a treat, maybe grab something for my roommates.

Enter a 10-minute lecture about how I need to balance the way I eat and I shouldn't deprive myself because it makes me unhappy. I told her, on the contrary, that eating sugar actually makes me more unhappy, and that I can't control myself around sugar so I need to limit the intake. She just ignored that and said I had an unhealthy view of food, etc. Told me I am going to be miserable just eating salads all day (even though I ate two burgers!) I ended up eating a small macaron because she was nagging me to. I stayed within my macros but it just bothered me that I gave in, and bothered me that she felt the need to lecture me on my eating habits.
