Coming over here from r/loseit. So far I've lost around 20 or so lbs on a low carb pre op liver shrinking diet (was going to pursue bariatric surgery but talked myself out of it because I convinced myself in this time that I can do it myself. See post history)

I'm interested in trying this diet because the one I've been on for 10 days is basically a starvation diet (2 protein shakes, 4oz lean protein and 2 cups veg) it's working its just not sustainable.

Enter r/keto. Cheese and bacon?! I don't want to sound too apprehensive but I just calculated my numbers and it seems like an exorbitant amount of food and fat and I say that as an obese person.

I'm really interested in starting the diet I'm just terrified of gaining back the weight I've already lost. I couldn't get myself to take the first step which was to include bacon in my dinner tonight. I just couldn't eat it because I thought of everything I've worked for so far.

Anyone else apprehensive about starting but have good results? I'm 27 5'7 sw: 296 cw: 274 gw:165

I'm also curious about how cholesterol and other biomarkers are affected. I've done some reading which said something like 'cholesterol levels increasing at first and the determination was made without enough test data which would have proven the cholesterol regulated itself after some time on the diet.' It sounded gimmicky like they were only trying to sell supplements for potassium.

Can I really eat that much fat? (I've read the articles about the bogus attack on fat by the US govt. I just cant shake it)

Thank you everyone!
