2017 Season Review: Brisbane Lions

Maybe the rub of the umpiring should be a justification then? When the free I brought up occurred, Brisbane was 2 goals down, with Andrews cleanly marking uncontested. The free went to Richmond with a very simple set shot, and then the Tigers promptly put another goal. That mark gets left alone, and who knows what happens? Maybe Brisbane move it upfield and score, maybe they turn it over with a kick straight down a Tigers half-forward's throat. My point is on that, a decision which relies on "I think..." should automatically be a benefit of the doubt to the marking side. Wouldn't matter to me if Richmond had taken the mark or if it was a game where Port Adelaide was playing Freo or the Giants.

You're welcome to think whatever you want. Bad umpiring decisions at critical moments in the can badly disrupt a team's momentum, and there have quite a few calls, given rightly or wrongly, against Brisbane that have seen big momentum swings. Yes, it's a mark of a young and not mature side where they don't handle that well, and that's exactly what Brisbane is at the moment. I also hate to see people rewarded for bad behaviour.
