In 2020 Labour MP Barry Sheerman tweeted an anti-Semitic joke and the Labour whip insisted his "apology" was the end of it - why did he get special treatment compared to Diane Abbott today?

We all have our own ideas about this.

I feel that the downfall of Jeremy Corbyn was written in his lack of decisive action when all the antisemitism accusations kicked off.

He could have nipped in the the bud but that would have involved doing what Starmer is doing now.

Starmer will kick you out of the party at the drop of a hat because rightly or wrongly getting mired down in a repeat of the antisemitism row and dragging it out for months or years on end with investigations and committees is not a good idea.

The right wing press weaponised the grey area between racism and discussions on racism, it would be foolhardy to fall into that trap again.

Diane Abbot should’ve known better then to write that letter it is a lack judgment that reflects very poorly on her.
