2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) Announces Nominees + Voting Begins

Yes and no, for purely the music, yes. But like I said for me everything else that comes with the music is what makes kpop different and great and that side of things is a lot more objective. To ignore everything else is a disservice to those who do everything else. Which was my point of why awards like this are silly in my eyes. It feels like a very narrow lens looking what is a very wide amount of things that make up a kpop group and the albums they release.

Maybe I put too much emphasis on not JUST the music but everything that comes with a new release, MV, stages and all the promotional things surrounding it matter. Long term no but when looking at only things from this year I think it should matter.

I also have said I like some of Blackpinks music. They just don't fit the same mold as pretty much every other group I follow/know of when it comes to things outside purely looking at the songs (and that mold is what makes the groups great not just another band/singer who releases some music now and then). The fact they are so big and so popular, is what makes me expect more from them in both quality of music and all those other things. Which is why it is hard for me to get my head around them being 'the biggest and best'.

Not to say it is the case here, but there is a lot of times in all forms of art where something is successful/popular despite realistically being bad/underwhelming yet people throw money and attention at it because they liked it previously. I am looking at your majority of the Fast & Furious franchise.
