I disagree, if you look the out coming data for T10s, 50-70% of people who applied were test optional. If you look at those accepted into T10s, only 30-40% were test optional. Even if you correct this assessment for selection bias (the unconfirmed idea that students who took the test were more likely to be stronger applicants anyway), test optional-status did not do much. All it did was draw in more applicants who would go on to get weeded out anyway. The test optional people who did get in would have mostly likely taken a test if the circumstances were different and have much the same chances. The test optional applicants who were helped is very negligible.
