(20M) People who were in their 20s in the 80s, what did you do?

Maybe not so old as this fellas commenting here. I’m a hybrid Gen X / millennial, so I was a child in the 80s and a teen in the 90s, but had older sisters and they were super important in my upbringing.

Here’s what I remember: spending summer holidays in the countryside with my cousins playing soccer, volleyball or whatever was trendy at that year (yo-yos, in-line skating, going to the arcade at the mall). They used to play instruments too, which I never did. We played a lot of make believe games in the yard (military, archaeologists…)

Buying records. They were “pocket money expensive” and we could only buy one or two at a time. As someone else said, we’d listen to the entire thing at one. I loved going to concerts too. Started as soon as I could (14 y/o). Started illegally clubbing early, too. At 16 I had a fake ID for entering places.

Books. Would read one after the other. Used to read even the encyclopedia. (Yes, we had that at home because there was no internet until the mid 90s). Lots of choose your path fantasy books too.

Spending time with family: baking a cake with an older sister or joining grandma at the Sunday morning mass (but I grew up an atheist). Going shopping with my mom at a mall or department store and having dinner after. Learning photography with my dad, or just watch him around doing yard work.

Vídeo games: Lots of Nintendo (got a NES for Xmas in 1989) and LucasArts point-and-click games in the early 90s.

School was great too. Loved the balls, plays and sports. And skipping classes with my mates to climb the school trees and just chill for the afternoon.
