FOLLOW THIS COMMENT AT YOUR OWN RISK, what I did instead of removing the entire nail several times like a had done before by doctors (yes I am old) I decided I was going to do the cut myself, the procedure lasted 3 hours little by little, no anesthetic, using the scissors from a small Victorinox pocket knife, until I removed a quarter inch all the way to the foot then I peeled it off very slowly hurt like hell but when I was done it was total relief, cleaned the open wound with alcohol and peroxide I let it air dry for the entire weekend keeping it clean and I’ve been perfectly fine for over a decade, removing entire nails was not an option anymore and doctors are savages!

The trick is to not leave any sharp edges on the remaining nail... you know what DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME, seek medical help; I think I was just lucky.
