223 reloading accuracy

Your best bet is to pick the bullet first, then consult the bullet maker's load data. Nosler, for example, tests a lot of powder and marks the most accurate one in the load data with an asterisk. And their load data is available for free on their site.

I have been using Varget for .223 for about 5 years up until recently. It is very accurate, but meters poorly for me. So cranking out hundreds of rounds of .223 really kind of sucks.

If .223 is your only cartridge and your AR-15 is your accurate rifle, then I understand where you're coming from. And in that case, Varget.

But, if you want plinkers and general mag dump powder, use Ramshot TAC. Cheap, consistent, easy (for me) to find and gives very good results.

As for accuracy potential, the powder is only one step in the equation and it's not even a reliable one because it can change from the powder lot-to-lot.
