I (22m) became a millionaire overnight after winning the lottery and now my relationships have changed.

since you are asking for ideas regarding places in the US to visit: I did a 3 and a half week tour on the west coast and can fully recommend it.

Here it is in a nutshell:

We started off in San Francisco for 3 days, heading over to Yosemite through Death Valley towards Las Vegas (which you can skip as you said :P). Heading up to Zion National Park, Dixie National Forest, Bryce Canyon. Down to Grand Canyon North Rim and around to the Grand Canyon Village. Then back towards Las Vegas over the Hoover Dam and along the Mojave National Preserve and Joshua Tree National Park down towards San Diego. Then basically up the Coast on Highway no. 1 passing Los Angeles and all the "Santas" until San Francisco.

Especially Yosemite and Zion have been the Highlights for me on this trip. IMO anyone should visit either of those at least once in their lives.
