A 25-year-old student has just come up with a way to fight drug-resistant superbugs without antibiotics

do you happen to know what ad hominem means?

absolutely.

and go fuck yourself. <-- this is not an ad hominem used to justify the argument, it's just an insult because your mentality deserves to be cussed at. it's not about right or wrong argument at this point, just about you being arrogant to the point that you deserve to be cussed at.

~ god

what a fucking idiot you are talking about logical fallacies right after confirming you will not treat me argument with respect due to a lack of 'authority'. honestly as far i'm concerned you're proof that i'm on to something meaningful given you can't produce anything of value related the original comment i made, and instead resorted to derision and talking shit about a spelling error, as a sheeple of society is trying to bully me into following. you are incredibly shallow.

How insecure are you about your lack of scientific qualifications?

absolutely none. didn't i just tell you scientific qualifications do not convey magical powers of ability to understand? (nor does being accepted to prestigious university mean anything, i know of couple of idiots from MIT).

i just rage when i encounter idiots who disregard anything because of 'qualifications' because it's an incredibly insane mentality to persist within society, and has lead to some amazingly bad information distribution systems. i hate the world i live in because i keep seeing argument from authority fallacies all over the place.

i have two papers that specifically delineate cannabinoid action against penicillin/methicillin resistant staphylococcus (and more). it killed all 6 relevant strains studied in the 2008. i'm not sure why exactly you can't understand that? are you too stupid to understand the implications without an advanced degree? i can't imagine you're particularly good at critical thinking given they you think credentials confers understanding.

Classy reply, by the way. You won me over.

you're basically just a bitch. you don't deserve a respectful reply, because you've been derisive in all comment really. and it doesn't seem you are capable of imagining how fucked up the world is because you literally just place blind faith in it. in fact you refuse to question things if you don't have a relevant degree.

Must be why I have published papers in actual scientific journals and am getting a Ph.D at one of the best universities in the world.

the fact you're getting a PhD at a prestigious university speaks well for the degradation of science. i mean, i did go to university too. and i saw the kind of bullshit that makes it through a highly technical and abstract degree like computer engineering at a top-tier university for that degree. i'm not surprised someone with your kind of mental deficiency is at one 'the best universities in the world'.

and you're publishing mill science papers don't impress me, but please, do link so i see what you're made of, truly.

see, i don't care if a paper is published either, at least 50% of published papers are wrong, and the number goes way up the farther back in time. there's an incredibly bad amount of science going on, narrow minded extrapolations that look good on paper initially but end up being entirely misleading in the long wrong. really, most published research is wrong.

and biomedical science is at the top of useless, probably due to all the perverse incentives of for profit biomedical/pharmaceutical companies, looking profit not curing humans. there's a big difference i realize you don't understand that, but definitely don't read this article: science isn't self-correcting, it's self-destructing. like this fantastic quote:

a cancer cell line used as the basis for over a thousand published breast cancer research studies was revealed to be actually a skin cancer cell line

though i suppose now we can use that as evidence against melanoma instead of breast cancer? (oh wait, do i need a degree to make a relevant joke!?!)

for another great example of how fucked up science has gotten: everything we know about addiction, which is wrong. drugs don't even cause addiction, bad circumstances do. the reason people believe drugs cause addictions is a mass, self-fulfilling, social delusion backed up be incredibly bad science, despite all the credentials and experts 'studying' the situation. unfortunately catagorical truth is not

... given the nature of your idiotic responses i can't imagine you have any inkling of what's going on in the absurdly broken knowledge state of humanity.

this mentality that you need advanced degrees to understand what you read in a science paper is fucking retarded.

Said no scientist ever.

here's the thing about science which you don't get: it's much hard to progress knowledge than it is to understand after produced. it can take humanity many generations to produce the knowledge i can learn and understand in mere years. why is this relevant? all those advanced degrees are people pushing knowledge, which is slow and laborious, takes a long time where people rack up a lot of hours without really generating a lot of valuable information.

outside of work, i have basically all the time in the world to go and peruse as much literature, both scientific and non-scientific (because science is most definitely not a gospel of truth), to stay just as informed as "a scientist" about any particular topic i'm interested in.

you must be one fucking idiot if you think having creditials says anything about your ability to discern and talk about truthful statements.

but since you're username is /u/slowandsteadylearner, i'll give you another shot to figure out why pharmaceutical companies might not be pursuing weed:

because it results in a significant decrease in prescriptions?

(oh wait, do i need an advanced degree to understand a graph a well!?!?!) god damn you're fucking stupid

there's a similar problem with stem cells, which pharmaceutical companies are fighting against because treatments don't involve any pharmaceutical. you pull stem cells directly from a patient, cutting
