25 Years of Goodfellas

Nothing has changed, just your perception. Everything is very much the same. I was at a club called Mirage, in Westbury NY on Long Island. Doesn't exist anymore. But we showed up and they said the club was opening an hour late because someone rented out the place. Which meant a lot, it was a very expensive place. So we waited in the parking lot, and as other club-goers showed up, we told them, they're opening up an hour late. But we watched, because from the back parking lot you can see the whole back of the club, as the patrons attacked the staff. They attacked these young kids serving them, because they literally ran out of cottage cheese. Then the manager came out, and they jumped him too. So the Nassau County PD came, and we knew most of them, being local Westbury FD volunteers, over 40 cops showed up. They arrested one of these guys, and took them to a cop car. While they all attacked the cops, and they were afraid for their lives. We knew all of them, even plain clothes cops were there, and they were scared for their lives. Theses Italians, or people posing as Italians, fought through the police, and took their friend or family member out of the patrol car, in handcuffs, then freed him from the handcuffs. All while fighting the police. The Nassau County Police are no joke, but they were deathly afraid of these guys. I'm not. This was in 2004 between my Middle East deployments. These guys fought police, who were armed with guns, hand to hand, and they feared these men, these Italians, or people posing as Italians. After they won, they got in their cars and drove off drunk, and the police didn't even follow them. The mob hasn't changed, the public's perception of the mob has changed, that's all. Fuck them, they're a curse on society, and if you think this is just a NY thing, you're wrong, their goal is to spread out everywhere, however, with blackmail, bribes, or however. You're just next in line. I can tell you stories, more than this. You're all blind to reality. Wake up, nothing has changed, just your perception of what is real.
