I mean location is of course critical. The general rule of thumb however is to consider worst case scenarios before making such a major change. And of course the OP is going to have concerns about location in regards to school, traffic, ect. Its generally not easy to figure out with any real certainty. But generally, the cost of groceries is higher in Canada, along with housing for major metropolitan areas. People can see this when comparing purchasing power statistics.

This subreddit is flooded with US citizens that have these romanticized ideas of what other countries are like and they tend to get extremely offended if you dare go against their assumptions.

I really think most people here should be looking into taking vacations as oppose to running from their problems. Adding the difficulty of being an expat is not necessarily a solution to issues. Adding kids into the mix makes it even harder.

And without the necessary skill set, licensing, or experience...no company is going to spend the time, money, and other resources necessary to import labor.
