It's been a couple years by now but I'll see what I can do and try to keep it brief. Just spoilering the whole thing because it's S;G, you know:

[Steins;Gate](/s "The idea for the plot is fine, really. It puts a pretty decent amount of effort into making it sciency, pretty intriguing, fine. But it also carefully structures it in such a way that Okabe is the only one that can do anything to fix the problems that result (mostly via his being the only one with Reading;Steiner). So there's not much there to the women outside of their relationships with Okabe. But you also end up with the first half being Okabe and Daru basically treating most of the women like shit (insulting Moeka for her shyness, refusing to call Kurisu by her actual name, being total perverts, etc.), getting into the big mess by being way too loose with the microwave, and then getting out of it by basically just begging them to do what he wants (wherein they in turn make huge sacrifices of their own, like Ruka's gender switch back) or doing uh, worse than begging (yelling at and sexually assaulting Moeka) and still getting what he wants from her anyway. Throughout all of this, Mayuri herself isn't doing anything, despite being only two years younger than Okabe. If you're going to have unlikable characters, fine. I'd just generally expect them to get an ending befitting of that, which they didn't here. And apparently a lot of viewers really, really like Okabe.

I mean, maybe there's just something about Okabe that I just didn't click with - it's really really rare for me to get much out of male characters anyway. And this overall appears to hit on 'feels' pretty hard which mostly passes me by. And I've read enough about it that I can certainly understand why people love it as much as they do even as I don't. But yeah, whatever the reason, not for me.")
