Hello mykumquats. I'm a 46 year-old man from California, living in Sweden and I'm up for an exchange (chinwag -for the anglophile) since we share some interest: Cycling: I've been an avid mtb'er since 1987 and lifelong cycle-nut! I've been riding and touring with an Xtracycle, mostly in Sweden, for the last 16 years. Science: Mycology, astronomy, geology, climatology, engineering, anthropology, (dare me to connect those dots) -the list is frightful so I'd best stop there. Right now I'm listening to The Unexplained -you will love Howard's light-Liverpoolian. Radio/podcasts are a near constant in my waking hours, but I don't watch any television shows and honestly know very little about pop-culture. I do follow current events/politics through various alt/media like Democracy Now I'm 100% a nature-person, spending a lot of time outdoors in all seasons, very often in the company of my daughter (8y-o). I haven't had a lot of experience with many cultures, but I did live and work on a Lakota Reservation for many years and it's had an enormous effect on my life.
Although I spend a lot of time trudging around in the mountains and forest, I don't often 'hike' per-se. I travel to California every year for a month or two but for me traveling means touring on my bike and it's mostly about the trip and rarely about the destination. I carry a camera a lot, but most of my pictures are of the forest where I forage and research (possibly boring, as you know well what the birch taiga looks like:)
