Hey, I’m curious to know about photo meta data. I’m a photographer and whilst I tend not to put many personal photos online a friend recently commented that I’d be an easy target for a catfisher because I share personal stories in my blog and podcast. It’s a catch 22 though as it’s the personal stories that people relate to and which gain the lost traction.

Appreciate any advice, thanks :-)

My Husband is sleeping and he knows more but I can say this from what I understand. Some cameras (especially on phones) provide a gps co-ordinate, many times this is on by default. This can be used to track the location. I didn't believe my husband at first, but he showed me a professional photo I'd had taken for my passport renewal and sure enough when he uploaded it to a website (free by the way) it showed basic information including the camera used, shutter speed and set up, and the location of the shop where it was taken. So maybe that alone isn't enough to locate a blonde in Sweden, even in this small town, but it spooked me, and of course you narrow the field down even more if you have any kind of personal information like a first name, profession etc. All this kind of thing has been used to find people on facebook and then blackmail them.

Oh ok. Yep I get that. Most of my photos are uploaded from a DSLR camera with no gps, however the Apple photo algorithms have a way of searching what’s in the photo, recognising similar images and then displaying location (when I’m searching my photos) based on that which must be AI functions I’m imagining.
