300+ Hypothyroidism Symptoms...Yes REALLY Maybe worth a read

Big list. I wish there were references for all those symptoms, for those of us keeping track of evidence. My symptoms on that list:

  • Sleep apnea
  • Snoring
  • Wake feeling tired
  • Weight gain (seemed to accelerate after starting levothyroxine....)
  • Inability to lose weight (Entire life, including childhood)
  • Obesity (ditto)
  • Cold feet
  • Low basal body temperature (waking is 96.3 consistently)
  • Frequent colds (more frequent, seem to get about 2 a year now)
  • Insulin Resistance (Only a nagging suspicion at this point. No overt indicators. A1C came back fine, but that's not a good indicator of insulin resistance, only an indication of loss of control of insulin. A fasting insulin test is the only way to be sure.)
  • Swollen tongue (an odd feeling about 5 years ago that my tongue didn't fit right in my mouth anymore. Recently told by DO that I had thyroid tongue
  • Persistent teeth clenching (been an issue on and off throughout my life, mostly prevent by managing stress)
  • Tinnitus (Probably the first symptom to develop when this interesting downturn happened. Saw an ENT. Said it was normal, age related hearing loss, at 35...)
  • Premature gray hair (runs on both sides of the family, though)
  • Brittle Nails (esp toenails)
  • Ridged Nails (mild)
  • Slow wound healing (wouldn't say slow, but slower than in used to be. Probably age related)
  • Heel spur (SUCKS. not even a runner)
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Joint pain (only in certain situations, but seemed odd anyway)
  • Hemorrhoids (Internal grade 1. Rarely cause an issue.)
  • Hard stools
  • Weight gain in abdominal area (only a recent development)
  • Kidney stones
  • Slow/weak pulse (lowest I saw while tracking for sleep apnea was 43 beats/min)
  • Arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat) / Heart Palpitations (Had occasional PVC's my entire life. Last year became much more frequent (1 out 4 beats, so startling I went to the ER). PVC's either from sleep apnea(most likely) or hypothyroidism. They are thankfully completely gone now. Haven't noticed one in ages, even when I'm checking for them.)
  • High cholesterol (mild)
  • High triglycerides (mild)
  • High LDL (“bad”) cholesterol (mild)
