As a native southern who is also a liberal atheist you don’t have to feel out of place if you just look a bit harder. I go to the Saenger in New Orleans to watch the Broadway musical tours all the time. There’s tons of museums and art galleries around. The food is 1000% better. Most of my friends are also liberal and nerdy.

Like I kind of get what you are saying. As a submissive it’s super difficult to find a dom who fits into my life both kink wise and socially and ethically that is also anywhere near me. So I really get it on that front. I’m just saying there’s tons of culture around that doesn’t revolve around honky tonks. It perpetuates this myth that everyone down here is uncultured swine when really there’s plenty beyond redneck culture around.
