[31 thoughts interview] Jay Beagle on choosing the Vancouver Canucks, Elias Pettersson and more

There's a lot going on during the interview if you've got time give it a listen.

Beagle is the only player to win at each level, ECHL, AHL, NHL. Talks about how he tried out for the Calgary Hitmen and he was 5'4" and got run by Getzlaf a few times. From then he always had motivation to make it no matter what.

He has a ridiculously positive outlook on all things. Marek/Friedman mention they've heard from sources say that despite his positive attitude rubbing some people the wrong way during the Caps toughest times, his positivity rubbed off and it pulled a lot of guys out of their losing mentality in Washington.

Dale Hunter was the coach that impacted him the most despite the short time together. Hunter just told him things straight. Credits a lot of coaches throughout his career for leaving a positive impact.

Leaving Washington was hard, he called guys personally to tell them, didn't want it to be just a text. Wilson was the first guy he called, they are really good friends, 4 year linemates etc. His most emotional convince was with Oshie who apparently texted Beags but her never got it until he went back to the States. Apparently he has an iPhone 1.

Talks about free agency, Vancouver flew him out, meet with him and were upfront and honest with him which he really appreciated. Friedman chimes in that Green said him and Beagle clicked immediately so how does Beagle not show all his cards for negotiation purposes. Beagle didn't really hit anything, he couldn't it's just how he is. Greens style and vision of the team is how Beagle likes to play the game so it was an immediate fit. There were other teams involved for his services including Calgary, his family wanted him to go to Calgary. He wanted to play for a team closer to home.

Talks about going into a new room (Vancouver) didn't know anyone in the room. Friedman asks Beagle who he hated playing against but once coming into the room was a good guy, it was Rousell.

I'll keep updating but there's a lot.
