33 week scan yielded great news and a sweet forward facing picture! Story in comments

Last week, I had an extra u/s at my 32 week appointment. Way back in the beginning I opted for genetic testing. All the numbers were fine but one number (for Papp A) was a decimal point lower than whatever range they like it to be. All that really meant was that I was going to get this additional scan.

Sooo they do the scan last week to make sure growth is normal (it was). In consulting with the doctor, he was completely reassuring about everything except for a 'oh yeah it looks like one of the adrenal glands is larger than the other, we're gonna send you to Maternal Fetal Medicine for them to take a double check.' Okay...I didn't ask too many questions because it was kind of oddly thrown into the information he gave us, and figured it was just another precautionary thing. Husband was at the appointment and his take away was the doctor sending some business over to the hospital. I wasn't as sure.

Fast forward to last night when I finally did some research and learned all about neuroblastoma. I was very very very worried this morning that they'd tell us that there was some sort of growth/cyst/tumor.

At the scan this morning they couldn't find anything. Not a cyst, not any sign that one gland was different than the other. YES! The ultrasound tech said she could tell I was nervous and actually told me during the scan that she wasn't seeing anything. What a sweet sweet lady.

For whatever reason during the consult immediately after the scan, this doctor says yup we didn't find anything - but just to be sure come in 2 weeks for another set of eyes to check it out. He said he didn't want to be 'arrogant'. I'm overwhelmingly so happy and thankful that it is normal, but I can't help but wonder... are these people just getting paid? Why are we looking again if you said there was nothing? Better safe than sorry and I haven't heard of any real danger for ultrasounds, but seriously? Going to approach it as another glimpse at baby girl and enjoy the great news of good health.
