4.0 Job Speculation - what do you think is coming?

It's easy to put Redmage in an FFXIV setting and keep it's 'icons', just have to water it waaaaaaaay down to FFXIV standards: * Cross-classes with THM and CNJ because White+Black magic lore reasons. Only two "staple" abilities: Swiftcast and Raise (Battle Cast-able learned through the trait called Chainspell LOL), rest are situational or nearly useless. * Standard Wombo Combo sword Weaponskills (Throw Red Lotus Blade in there somewhere, miss that weaponskill) * Combo enders can be the En-Spells... no enchantment just damage and different functions (Fire=Raw Damage, Aero=DoT etc..) * Let's make Chainspell just a trait that reduces "Cooldowns" as you level up. :)

Red Mage spells/abilities will be ABILITY COOLDOWNS that will have a CASTING TIME that mimic the staple DPS stuff: * "Haste" is only a self-buff. It's their version of Huton/Heavy Thrust/Greased Lightning. It's a spell so there's a cast time but if you wanna be top DPS you need to swiftcast it between GCDs. * "Focus" is their Blood for Blood equivalent. Surprisingly even though they're 'focused' they'll get a 20% damage taken increase.... because DPS tunnel vision. * "'Fast' Cure" is their second wind equivelant. It's instant, fortunately. Throw in another chainspell trait that adds a 20% proc to increase the next heal potency... a wasted trait. They needed a reliable White Mage spell and there it is. * "Refresh" (or maybe name it something else to reduce tears) only increases MP regain potency by 20% for 10s. AoE. Cast-Time. Could become Dark Knight's B***h to enhance their blood weapon potential or dark arts shenanigans. Mantra/Battle litany equivalent. * "Dual Cast" will be an a carbon copy of Dark Arts with the Cooldown length of Battle Voice. Your next CAST-TIME COOLDOWN ability will double in potential. Ends once abilty is casted. * "Death" is their mercy stroke/assassinate equivalent. Another Chainspell trait will reduce the cooldown of this ability. Has a cast-time

So there we have it, FFXIV Red Mage, with it's iconic abilities in-tact; Dual Cast as a 180s cool down and Chain Spell as a trait. What will be unique of the Job is the use of "Swiftcast" to remove the CAST-TIME from the cooldowns to make them true cooldowns... mostly "Haste" I guess. Another unique aspect is stealing the spotlight from Summoner of being able to battle raise as a DPS, albeit sacrificing your staple mechanic to swiftcast a raise.

Lore reasons why their spells get an actual cool-down is due to having the memory of a goldfish juggling between the two schools of magic constantly hurts the brain.

They're classified as a melee DPS. It's ranged attack is a magic spell Raze a sword throw because they have enough spells.
