DISCLAIMER: This is not a statement of fact, rather it is an opinion and theory that is supported with evidence. Draw from it your own conclusion.

Introduction:

A lot of people have speculated on who the codburner is. Whether he is a pro player, a coach, whatever. Recently a treasure trove of evidence has come out regarding the burner's identity and while I did not gather it myself, I've compiled it into this post to propose a convincing theory. So here it is.

Location:

On April 9th, a reddit user going by the name of "CODCooler" made a post on /r/codcompetitive titled "About the burner.." In this post Cooler dropped some information about nV dropping Apathy, GorgoKnight being dropped, and a bunch of other intel that later proved accurate - all before the burner said anything about it. An unnamed reddit user sent a disguised IP-logger link to Cooler and was able to discover that Cooler was actually a college AM who was friends with a few pros. The Cooler deleted his account a few minutes after he was exposed. The important part of this is that the same unnamed reddit user also sent a link to the burner and here's what he found:

Now how does the burner reply when this is brought to light?

Addressing Lie #1, We already know that the IP originates from the Atlanta area and not the Netherlands.

Addressing Lie #2, AT&T U-Verse [the Service Provider of this IP] is not a VPN connection - it's a home connection.

Here's what the burner told another unnamed reddit user in DMs: https://imgur.com/mm0mStY

  • Lie #3: Notice how in the first message he changes his story. Now he wasn't the one who clicked on it, but instead he sent it to a friend to click [nice guy this burner is].
  • Lie #4: He sent it to a friend who uses VPNs to click on.

Addressing Lie #3, The link the burner was sent was embedded meaning it didn't show the link address just like this: See?. Also as you can see in the timestamp of the image, the burner clicked this link almost immediately. So he somehow sent this embedded link to his friend and had his friend click it in a matter of seconds? [Spoiler Alert: He didn't]

Addressing Lie #4: This is what shows us that this whole "friend" story is complete bullshit. We already established in Lie #2 that the IP was not a VPN, so this "friend" is non-existent.

Location TLDR: The burner is located within the Atlanta metro area.

Writing:

A common practice in law enforcement involves analyzing writing to try and establish habits, commonalities, or otherwise identifying traits of a certain author. Let's put the burner's writing under analysis:

Addressing Analysis #1, You would be amazed at how rare it is in the pro scene to type in all lowercase 99% of the time. Nowadays virtually all phones and pieces of software will automatically capitalize the first letter of each sentence. I only found two pros who did this consistently and one of them is Killa, who obviously doesn't live in the Atlanta area and honestly even he capitalizes 5x as much as the burner - we'll get to the second person in a moment.

Addressing Analysis #2, I know that it is a running meme right now [because of the burner] but "fugaze" is a strange word and isn't the most common slang in the pro scene. There is really only one person who uses "fugaze" as much as the person - like I said we'll get to that.

Writing TLDR: The burner overuses the word "fugaze" and almost exclusively types in lowercase.

Linking the Evidence:

Now that we have established a healthy amount of reasoned analysis and evidence, let's see who may match up with the evidence we've compiled.

  • Atlanta: There are't a ton of people in the scene who live in the Atlanta area. One of the most notable is Temp, who's twitter profile lists his location as "Snellville, GA" which is well within the Atlanta area and the service area of AT&T U-Verse Atlanta: https://imgur.com/BW91UMh
  • Lowercase typing: As I said above, this is surprisingly rare in the pro scene. In fact the the only pro I could find who's use of lowercase typing was on par with the burner's, was Temp [Just look at his twitter if you don't believe me]: https://imgur.com/f4kkugp
  • Fugaze: This word is not exclusive to one person obviously but both Temp and the burner have a habit of using it incessantly. Here's a clip [anyone who watches Temp's streams knows that he repeats this word ad nauseam]: https://clips.twitch.tv/AbrasiveIcyFoxNerfRedBlaster
  • Intel: Temp is well connected in the scene and it would make since for him to have the kind of access the burner seems to have. In fact, when I was watching his stream momentarily he was discussing the Denial roster moves hours before the burner put them out. Anyone who watches his streams knows he is constantly discussing other teams and different drama - much like the burner.
  • "But the burner occasionally posts when Temp is streaming": It's not hard to rattle off a couple sentences in-between games, in fact most pros do this on discord and other applications - so why is reddit any different?

Linking the Evidence TLDR: Temp seems to match with everything we know about the burner.

Conclusion:

Temp may be the burner, Temp may not be the burner. I think that the evidence is very convincing and I can tell you that at the very least we can be 100% positive the burner is Atlanta which exonerates a number of suspects like Clayster, BrianSaint, JKap, and more. Thanks to the crazy number of users who helped compile this post. And to the burner: You just got burned.
