4 mass shootings in 6 hours leave 39 wounded, 5 dead across US

I originally commented "Goldilucks" as a silly reply. Then it occurred to me that it's really fucked up that we're all so used to events like this that it's easy to laugh about it. I mean, I'm not judging anyone, but I just noticed myself chuckling and smiling as I was reading this thread, and it hit me how easy it is to casually transition into silliness and laughter when the root topic is a baby being randomly shot.

I think that's because, on top of normal desensitization, it also seems so hopeless that there isn't even a point in caring anymore.

I really want to emphasize that I'm not judging anyone joking about this. But it's amazing to realize how unshocked I am, and that I've gotten to a point where a baby getting shot has basically turned into just another "oh well" thing that I can quickly move past because nobody can even try to do something about it in this unbelievably fucked up country.
