The 4 Squares Review Oath: Chronicles of Empire and Exile

It could be an issue of semantics as I don't have the rulebook in front of me, but I consider the chronicle to encompass all of the mechanisms that persist across games or modify future games based on player input. Basically, what happens in the game or cleanup to affect the future game and how players can manipulate or interact with that.

So there's the journal but also which sites (location cards) persist, which denizen cards persist, which suits are added to the world deck, which edifice is built, whether a successful Exile offers citizenship to another Exile, and which Oath is sworn for the next game.

All of these are a result of what occurred in the game and have tremendous mechanical and narrative effect. They're essentially the hook of Oath and the genesis for its design.
