48 years ago today the Ohio National Guard opened fire on unarmed student protesters at Kent State University, killing four students and wounding nine others, one of whom suffered permanent paralysis.

Wow. I was kinda hoping that my comment would inspire people to realize that sometimes a conspiracy theory is plausible, since humans do conspire and all.

But rather than step away from the default notion that conspiracy theory = crazy person, people got mad and down voted me to say “it’s not a conspiracy theory!” ...no really, it is because that one statement from that one guy does not establish a historical fact. That doesn’t mean it’s false. Sometimes conspiracy theories are true. That’s the point.

It’s mind blowing how trained people are to automatically assume that an unpopular theory or explanation is schizophrenic until proven true.

Remember when people who suspected that the government was spying on us were marginalized? Learn from our mistakes much?
