5 states (mostly south) pay 72% direct taxes. From india4all. Fact checked from CBDT data

That was not my intention, I'm sure a sizeable (maybe even majority) of engineers in Bangalore and Hyderabad are from North India. It means that we equally contribute to the relative prosperity of the South. It also shows that people are not the issue.

Personally, I think north indian politics is the reason for this state as the same people do equally or even better in South. It's much more divided on religion and caste.

Like for example UP, which is one of the poorer states in India, needs an educated person to fix it's issues, but what do they do. They elect a Yogi. Something like that won't ever happen in the South. Religion is more of a personal business here and mostly doesn't creep into public life. Even though at times I think individually south Indians are actually more religious.

Please note that these are my opinions and you are free to see it differently.

As for the point of reliance of north on south, to an extent that is true, it might be an uncomfortable truth. But it is the truth.

A large chunk of central taxes collected in South Indian states go to UP and Bihar. This has increased under the present government. So some south Indians see the construction of freeways in UP as unfair, which is mostly funded by the central taxes.

To me, this is a problem also in the fact that the present dispensation puts it as an outcome of political ideology, when a lot of this growth under such BJP governed states is actually due to them allotting more money to such states, rather than people like yogi doing anything significant.

Again personal opinion, please don't get angry if you disagree. I've heard good things about yogi when it comes to law and order, but I simply don't like a religious person as a chief minister. To me that narrows his perspective on the world.

But that is what states in a countries do, they help each other out.

The south alone would not be even close to being as politically significant in the world without North India and probably would even have a shortage of talent.

India works only if we all work together.
