50 Cent on His Respect for Eminem: "Hip hop is black music, no question, and unfortunately for some people it’s tough to accept that you have a white artist that does it better than black artists"

Yeah. I stay out of it 99% of the time and just try and be kind to everyone, even if there’s abuse being hurled, and people are demanding that you react harshly to someone whose being a jerk because...idk. I was raised that you catch more flies with honey.

I had a fun time with this recently. My sister (who is half black, and has a son whose dad is Mexican. It kind of matters later) runs a hotel. She recently had some well known trump guy book a room at her hotel for a rally or something that was pretty publicized. Sister isn’t into politics, so she just thought he was a nice dude who checked in and said thank you and went to his room. No issues with him at all. He called once to ask for extra towels or something and was super nice to the staff (who were Dominican) and tipped them pretty well.

I looked him up later and definitely didn’t agree with some of his views. But he was super nice and never brought that crap up, so who cares? Everyone needs a place to sleep, unless they’re behaving badly.

But my sister, at the front desk, is getting phone calls from a bunch of ANGRY white women, giving her shit and calling her a bigot for renting a room to this guy. Saying she should kick him out and saying they would tell all their friends to write negative reviews on my sisters workplace on yelp because the business is run by racists (negative reviews really super do hurt sisters job security). They said that she was acting like an entitled racist republican asshole for doing business with him.

My 1/2 black sister, raising my black/white/Mexican nephew. Getting called a racist by a white woman because she did business with a probably asshole.

The angry, threatening attitude can be so vile. I get what you’re trying to do, but if you spout off at everyone, you seriously just hurt your own cause. My sister called me damn near in tears about the death threats and crap she was getting just for a dude being her customer. Screaming at anyone is so useless, and you usually just hurt your own cause and make yourself look more like an ass.

If anything, all that did was make my sister less likely to get invited in political stuff. Hell, the non-offensive party who didn’t scream at her in the situation was the white trump supporter. And because of what those women did, I guarantee that guy is more likely to get her vote now than their candidate, because at least he didn’t throw abuse at her.

Screaming at people over injustices that aren’t intentional just hurt your cause. I don’t know what people are trying to accomplish sometimes, but I swear, when you start yelling and acting like a jerk, you do more harm than good.

Again. Treat all people with respect, and like they are people. Save the vitriol for someone who has actually wronged you. Otherwise you shoot yourself in the foot.
