Classifying guaranteed non-fatal self harm as a suicide attempt does nothing but reinforce the behavior. Suicide isn't difficult if someone is attempting it. Nearly all "attempts" mentioned attention seeking behavior. Now, our farm hand's brother who shot himself in the head with a 1911 after a break up, that was a survived suicide attempt. He is brain damaged and will be disfigured for life. Feeling sad and taking a bottle of medicine with a 99% survival rate isn't a suicide attempt.
